About Terroir HUB

Terroir HUB is a database of Japanese sake and spirits producers, built from each producer's official website. It lists 2,805 producers of sake, shochu, awamori, wine, whisky and liqueur, plus 245 traditional Japanese crafts. For each producer it shows the location, founding year, flagship brands and whether visitors are accepted, with the source and the date it was checked.

How the information is collected

Sources are limited to each producer's official website or the public information of prefectural brewers' associations and industry bodies. Nothing is filled in from reviews or guesswork.
Unknown details are left blank. Every page shows its source URL and the date it was checked.
Visit status, booking, fees and visit length are checked against each producer's official website, one by one (378 producers have visit details).
Visit details on English pages are translations of the producers' Japanese websites, and are marked as such.
Some product listings include affiliate links (e.g. Rakuten) and are labelled "PR". Terroir HUB does not sell alcohol.
